Vintage Brass Phrenology Plate

Solid brass vintage phrenology plate based on the 19th-century pseudoscience suggesting a correlation between the physical shape of a person's skull and their mental faculties and character, determined by feeling for bumps and indentations on the skull. This pure brass plate displays a few of the areas of the brain deemed responsible for different mental and emotional traits, including reasoning, perception, intellect, propensities, domesticity, selfishness, and morality. 

Despite best efforts and a clear maker's mark on the back of the plate, no manufacturer or age is known.
